 Computer role-playing game. Examples: Diablo
 
 CYOA
 Create your own adventure. This kind of game books are usually actual 
        printed books that consist of hundreds of short, numbered segments. At 
        the end of each segment, there's usually a choice to be made. ("If 
        you want to open the door, go to 142. Otherwise you continue down the 
        corridor, g to 215").
 
 IF
 Interactive fiction. The contemprary term for what some would call text 
        adventure games. Examples are the original Adventure game, or the Zork 
        series. Independent developers still make them, and usually make them 
        available for free. ifwiki.org is a good place to look for more information, 
        or the rec.arts.int-fiction newsgroup.
 
 RPG
 role-playing game. The first example that springs to mindis of course 
        Dungeons & Dragons.
